Wonsidary: A screen with CarPlay and Android Auto for any car

Today's vehicles are all about technology, but that's a significant leap forward that only happened relatively recently. That is, it's not uncommon to find relatively new vehicles that lack features like the ability to wirelessly integrate Apple CarPlay.

Furthermore, at worst, many of these vehicles have completely outdated operating systems with a questionable user interface, which leads most users to opt for alternatives such as Wonsidary, a 10-inch screen that wirelessly integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into any vehicle.

Materials and design

In this section, the product is extremely simple. The surroundings of the screen do not stand out for their remarkable manufacturing quality, but rather for the use of matte, rigid, and, of course, durable plastics. This screen is extremely light, and inside it only has a small wireless connection system with Apple CarPlay of which we have analyzed so much here.

So, beyond its screen, we can't say much. It comes with an extremely long cable, but it has a cigarette lighter socket at the end. It would have been more ideal to include a dual-port USB-C cable, Since many cars already lack a cigarette lighter socket or have it quite hidden, this is not the case with USB ports, which are increasingly becoming more common on dashboards.

C

It also includes a dual-port male AUX cable, in case you want to connect the sound traditionally, although there are other ways to output sound from the screen. In this regard, This has a USB-A port on the back in addition to the USB-C connection port, in case we deem it appropriate to add additional storage that allows us, together with the microSD card port, to play content directly from our own sources.

Technical characteristics

We can't go into too much detail on the technical side, but we'll focus on what we consider important. The device has a brightness sensor that automatically adjusts the intensity of the screen, to facilitate viewing even in the most adverse conditions.

It has four integrated applications, namely: Bluetooth Navigation, Phone, and Music. Honestly, although the performance is sufficient, I recommend using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto primarily to enjoy the full experience.

C

  • Possibility of running AirPlay
  • MirrorLink Functions

The double Bluetooth connection will allow us to connect our mobile device (iPhone or Android) to the screen, to run Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. At the same time, we can connect to the car via Bluetooth, as by selecting the Bluetooth audio output option on the Wonsidary screen, we can play all content natively through the vehicle's speakers without any problem. It worked perfectly for us in the Toyota, although you always have the option of using the AUX port.

In this same sense, the Wonsidary screen It has its own speakers, which are terrible and can get you out of a tight spot, but you can't ask for anything more. We could say they sound too soft, considering they'll presumably be positioned on the dashboard.

C

The screen, however, integrates its own radio, equalizer, and other audio settings that will allow us to enjoy a relatively complete experience.

User experience

Now let's talk about the important stuff: how did this device make us feel? It's exquisite to use; with a little care and attention to detail, you can hide the cables in a way that, unintentionally, can appear to be completely integrated into our dashboard. In addition to the above, The connection with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is not only fast, but also offers stability worthy of the best devices in this category.

C

Without a doubt, from my point of view it has become a product to be taken into account, capable of offering exactly what it promises, at a price often below 100 euros on Amazon, Which is its usual selling point. That's why I can't help but recommend this Wonsidary screen if, like me, you're looking to give a second life to a vehicle that lacks CarPlay and also has a pretty lousy operating system, like Toyotas from five years ago.
